THE URBAN GUERRILLAS COMMITTEE:

PRESIDENT & FOUNDER

  • Sam founded Urban Guerrillas in late 2021 while studying ????,  with the goal of creating a group where adults who share a similar passion for the environment can meet regularly and restore biodiversity to urban landscapes. Sam's priority is mental health, encouraging individualism, so that Urban Guerrillas can connect further, educate more people and restore more urban areas.

SECRETARY

  • Having completed a Bachelor of Environmental Science in 2025, Ashton has developed a love for restoring and protecting indigenous vegetation throughout Victoria and, in particular, Melbourne's eastern suburbs. She has volunteered with a number of community groups throughout Whitehorse and Knox over the last four years, and is currently on the committee for indigenous nursery Greenlink Box Hill.

Ashton has been volunteering with the Urban Guerrillas from early 2024, becoming secretary of the organisation in 2025. She has helped run working bees along the Gardiner's Creek, organised and delivered workshops, and established a bushland regeneration project at Rooks Reserve, Nunawading.

COMMITTEE

  • Rachael is a recent Honours graduate in Environmental Science, specializing in the conservation of Powerful owl nest hollows in urban and rural landscapes. As a committee member at Urban Guerrillas, she loves connecting people with nature by facilitating community ecology bushwalks. She also has a passion for native animal care, through her volunteer work at her local wildlife shelter, and especially loves looking after nocturnal mammals and birds.

Rachael enjoys getting involved in community biodiversity education and inspiring others to better understand their local fauna, flora, and fungi.

VICE PRESIDENT

  • After receiving a Bachelor of Zoology from the University of New England, Beth completed a Graduate Certificate of Science specialising in Zoology at the University of Melbourne and is continuing there with a Master of Environment, specialising in restoration and conservation. She has been involved with Urban Guerrillas since August 2022 and is most often seen on-site with her two children, Bowie and Floren.

Beth has been an environment enthusiast her whole life, and in her role as Vice President, her aim is to bring more people into the Urban Guerrillas family through outreach and collaboration. My (Her) quirky need to constantly craft is forced into many a workshop.
