Welcome to Urban Guerrillas
A place of community and connection, where you can come as you are and geek out about the environment around us.
Our group is driven by our passion for restoration, coming together to regenerate our urban landscapes and increase indigenous biodiversity while creating connection within the community.
We strive to be all inclusive, welcoming all abilities and ages, without any prior experience or knowledge needed. We extend this to First Nation and LGBTQIA+ communities.
OUR MISSION:
Urban Guerillas aims to restore Indigenous biodiversity, build an actionable community through volunteering, and decentralise environmental knowledge.
In providing a safe, inspiring space to educate and engage young adults through environmentally focused workshops and events, our goals are to activate young adults in community-led restoration projects, contribute to conservation in our Urban Landscapes, and provide accessible environmental knowledge to all.
THE URBAN GUERILLAS VALUES
-
Urban Guerrillas aim to act as a bridge between young adults and local Environmental groups, encouraging youth to enter the environmental space and connecting them with knowledgeable community members we collaborate with, along with other like-minded individuals, while supporting local groups both at events and in expanding their member base. We foster a community which allows for connections to flourish, whether personal, emotional, or professional. -
We believe that knowledge should not be gate-kept and should be freely available to everyone, and that everyone has a right to a free education, especially when it comes to nature and biodiversity. Through collaboration with our members, individuals, and groups to run educational workshops and events, we provide members and attendees opportunities to build skills and gain valuable knowledge across a variety of environmentally focused disciplines. -
Through this combined force of Connection and Education, we work to restore our Urban Landscapes. By bringing together different age demographics and skill sets, we support sustainable communities, where knowledge can be passed between generations and backgrounds, equipping members with practical conservation and restoration skills, all while helping to regenerate our Urban Landscapes and increasing local biodiversity.
Our goal is to empower our community to tackle Restoration projects wherever they may be, providing a network of people with the know-how, passion, and resources to create grassroots action.
